Nebraska woman arrested after high-speed chase through Millard backyards
SARPY COUNTY, Neb. —
A Nebraska woman is in custody after a high-speed pursuit with law enforcement in Sarpy County.
Security camera footage captured the vehicle crashing through fences and backyards during the chase, which started around 3:45 p.m. on Interstate 80 near Gretna.

The Nebraska State Patrol said a trooper saw the Buick sedan, which was reported stolen, traveling eastbound on I-80. The driver initially stopped for a traffic stop, but refused to follow commands and fled eastbound at speeds of more than 100 mph.

Officials said the driver, identified as 28-year-old Raquel Cervantes, drove on the shoulder at times, before exiting I-80 at Highway 370. She then fled eastbound on Highway 370, running red lights and weaving through traffic. The Omaha Police Department’s Able-1 assisted with the pursuit from the air.
Video footage shows Nebraska State Patrol troopers pursuing the vehicle and attempting to use stop sticks on 144th Street to stop the driver.
The Nebraska State Patrol said Cervantes turned into a neighborhood near 144th Street and drove through a park with children present.
The chase ended with the car crashing through several Millard backyards. She then fled into the South Papillion Creek, according to neighbors.
Officials said troopers found the vehicle abandoned in the middle of the street near South 154th Avenue and Chalco Pointe Drive.
Cervantes was arrested for multiple charges, including theft by receiving stolen property, flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, and numerous traffic violations.
