GROWING ISSUE. THANK YOU. ALEX. OMAHA POLICE SAY A 14 YEAR OLD IS DEAD. AND FIVE OTHER PEOPLE ARE HURT AFTER A CRASH. IT HAPPENED NEAR 37TH AND X STREETS. IT WAS AROUND 315 THIS MORNING. ACCORDING TO POLICE, THE CAR THEY WERE IN WAS A STOLEN HYUNDAI. INVESTIGATORS SAY THE CAR WAS SPEEDING SOUTH ON 37TH STREET. IT GRAZED A PARKED CAR AND THEN CRASHED INTO ANOTHER PARKED CAR. THE STOLEN CAR ROLLED AND A 14 YEAR OLD IN THE FRONT SEAT WAS PARTIALLY EJECTED. HE WENT TO THE HOSPITAL WHERE HE DIED. Suspect charged with manslaughter in fatal high-speed crash reaches plea agreement
The suspect accused in a high-speed crash that killed a teenager in Omaha reached a plea agreement in the case.Tap Tap, 16, was convicted of manslaughter in the crash, which killed a 14-year-old boy and injured five other people.The crash occurred near 37th and X streets in September 2024. Investigators said the car, driven by Tap, was traveling southbound on 37th Street at “excessive speeds,” grazed a parked car and then hit another parked car.The force of the crash caused the car to roll onto its passenger side, Omaha police said.The 14-year-old boy, a passenger in the car, was partially ejected and was taken to the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, according to Omaha police.Omaha police investigators said the silver Hyundai Sonata involved was stolen.
