‘A dream come true’: Millard West girls basketball standout Kylee Paben discusses love of the game

WOLVERINES HANGING ON 8876 AFTER GRADUATING FIVE SENIORS, INCLUDING THE GUESTS, ARE TWINS NOW AT CREIGHTON BACK TO BACK CLASS A CHAMPS. MILLARD WEST COULD HAVE TAKEN A STEP BACK. INSTEAD, THEY LEANED ON MINNESOTA COMMIT KYLIE PARVIN LAUREN MICHELSON. NOW, WITH MORE ON HOW THE WILDCATS ARE FINDING THEIR EDGE BEHIND ONE OF THE TOP PLAYERS IN THE STATE. MILLARD WEST FORWARD KYLIE PARVIN MAY BE THE WILDCATS ONLY SENIOR, BUT SHE’S MORE THAN ENOUGH TO SET THE TONE. WHAT I WOULD CALL LIKE A MATCHUP NIGHTMARE. LIKE, WHO ARE WE GOING TO PUT ON HER? THAT NIGHTMARE COMES FROM VERSATILITY. SHE CAN TAKE YOU OUTSIDE AND THEN SHE CAN TAKE YOU TO THE BLOCK. THE RESULTS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES. PAYTON LEADS ALL OF CLASS A, AVERAGING 20 POINTS PER GAME. I WANT TO BE KNOWN FOR PLAYING SUPER AGGRESSIVE AND HAVING HIGH ENERGY ON BOTH SIDES OF THE FLOOR, OFFENSIVELY AND DEFENSIVELY, BUT THAT EDGE IS PAIRED WITH SOMETHING JUST AS IMPORTANT PLAYING WITH JOY. I JUST PLAY BETTER WHEN I AM ENJOYING IT AND IT’S WHERE, LIKE YOU HAVE THE MOST FUN WITH YOUR TEAMMATES AND EVERYTHING, AND IT REALLY STARTS TO CLICK ON THE COURT WHEN YOU’RE JUST HAVING FUN OUT THERE NEXT SEASON. PAYTON TAKES THAT MINDSET TO THE BIG TEN. SHE’S COMMITTED TO MINNESOTA. WHEN SHE WALKED IN THESE DOORS AS A FRESHMAN, SHE WASN’T. YOU KNOW, SHE DIDN’T HAVE OH MAN, SHE’S GOING TO PLAY IN THE BIG TEN SOMEDAY. THAT WASN’T EVEN A THOUGHT IN MY MIND. BUT SHE PUT THE WORK IN AND I THINK THAT’S WHAT OTHER KIDS CAN TAKE FROM THAT. BUT BEFORE SHE LEAVES NEBRASKA, PAYTON HOPES TO LEAD THE WILDCATS TO A THREE PEAT. POSSIBLY WIN ANOTHER TITLE IS OBVIOUSLY THE BIGGEST GOAL, BUT THEN REALLY JUST CHERISHING THESE MOMENTS I HAVE WITH MY TEAM AND JUST GETTING THIS OPPORTUNITY HAS BEEN A DREAM COME TRUE.
