OUR STORY
The story of 1st Sky Omaha is rooted in a deep reverence for the power of art, storytelling, and the indomitable spirit of the Black experience. It was born out of a realization that the mainstream media often overlooks the nuanced narratives and vibrant voices within our community. We recognized the need to create a space that embraces the breadth and depth of our stories while empowering Black artists, journalists, filmmakers, and musicians to share their truth unapologetically.
Drawing inspiration from the limitless skies above, we embarked on a journey to redefine representation in the media landscape. With passion in our hearts and a determination to challenge the status quo, we set out to establish a media company that is a beacon of light for Black voices. We believe that embracing diversity, celebrating cultural heritage, and fostering genuine connections can shape a world where every voice is heard, valued, and uplifted.
OUR BELIEF
At 1st Sky Omaha, we firmly believe that art is a transformative force capable of bringing about social change. We believe in the power of storytelling to ignite empathy, bridge divides, and unite communities. We believe that representation matters, and that by showcasing the diversity and complexity of Black voices, we can reshape the narrative and dismantle stereotypes. We are committed to nurturing emerging talent, providing a platform for marginalized voices, and cultivating an inclusive community that embraces collaboration, creativity, and authenticity.
