Alabama junior hockey player, two teammates killed in crash on way to practice in Canada
The hockey community is mourning the loss of an Alabama teen and two teammates who were killed in a car crash in Canada.Caden Fine, 17, a former player for the Birmingham Jr. Bulls, died Monday when the car he was traveling in collided with a semi pulling gravel south of Calgary, according to ESPN. A recent addition to the Southern Alberta Mustangs junior hockey team, Fine was on his way to practice when the crash occurred. Teammates JJ Wright and Cameron Casorso, both 18 and from Kamloops, British Columbia, also died in the crash. At the team’s arena in Stavely, three jerseys bearing the players’ names were displayed alongside three upright hockey sticks.”Caden’s love for the game began in our House program in 2020,” the Bulls said in a statement. “He went on to wear the Jr Bulls jersey from 2021–2023, bringing an infectious smile to the locker room and undeniable grit to the ice … This is a heartbreaking day for our entire hockey community. We extend our deepest condolences to Caden’s family, friends, and teammates during this unimaginable time.
