One challenge farmers are taking on is the use of artificial intelligence to aid in production.
Farmer Clark McPheeters recognizes the technology as a digital assistant and a way to level the playing field for smaller producers.
“I’m sure you have plenty of industry giants are using AI to help create probabilistic forecasts of commodities, markets, et cetera, so really, in order for farmers to be able to keep up with that, we’re going to have to have access to some tools of our own, right?” said McPheeters.
As they learn about issues affecting the industry, farmers also have the chance to build connections with people beyond their community.
“What people love about Farmer2Farmer is just getting a chance to meet other growers from around and realize that a lot of people have the same challenges that you do, you know, they sort of build a network of friends around that and take that on in their daily life when they leave,” said co-founder Charles Baron.
