The 2026-2031 Strategic Plan was approved by the Papillion-La Vista Board of Education during Monday’s meeting. Seery, the assistant superintendent of teaching, learning and technology, has been leading the charge, starting with advanced education.
“Making sure we have the right opportunities in the areas of internships, like with the trades, the career academies, advanced placement classes,” Seery said.
She said improvements are coming to college preparation, too. The district wants to facilitate communication and offer resources for students and their families starting in 6th grade.
“Our counselors are doing a great job, but then accessing it, knowing where to find it,” Seery said.
The plan also highlights a desire to keep teachers and hire more of them.
“We have a great staff to serve our students in our district, but how do we ensure that we keep our staff?” Seery said.
The district wasted no time starting on that goal.
“Our whole HR department today is at a career fair, trying to recruit,” Seery said.
While the district wants more faculty, they are not adding more schools. The plan includes other goals focused on providing equal access to mental health resources and building community.
“That not only includes the district and the three cities or communities that we are connected to, but also students within their own community,” Seery said.
Now that it’s been approved, the district will form implementation teams, which will be responsible for executing these goals over the next five years.
