A man posing as a maintenance worker was caught on camera rummaging through items at Shannon Barnhart Dance Studio in Omaha on the evening of Jan. 27.The dance studio, located just off 50th and Leavenworth, captured footage of the man entering the studio. He then spent nearly 30 minutes opening cabinets, taking pictures with his phone, and going through other people’s stuff. At one point, he appears to rub a stuffed animal or Squishmallow on his body. According to the police report, he claimed to be with maintenance, although no maintenance was scheduled.An instructor told police they asked what he was doing, and he said he was looking for a yellow debit card. With the owner on speaker phone, he was told to leave immediately. Afterward, he sat outside in a U-Haul truck for another 10 minutes before driving off. About ten teenage girls and another instructor were also inside the building at the time in another studio. The man is seen wearing glasses and a gray shirt with the word “WINNING.”Omaha Police are hoping someone recognizes the person.
