City of Omaha plans to widen 156th Street

RIGHT NOW, THE PROJECT IS JUST IN A DESIGN PHASE AND THE CITY WANTS YOUR INPUT. SO TODAY, FROM 630 TO 8:30 P.M. AT CONCORDIA HIGH SCHOOL, THERE WILL BE A PUBLIC OPEN HOUSE. The city of Omaha plans to turn 156th Street from just north of Maple Street through the Fort Street intersection into a four-lane road.The city says it’s currently looking at different options for the roadway’s design, but the four lanes will be divided by a median, meaning two lanes in each direction.Installation of sidewalks, storm sewers, curb and gutter, ADA-compliant curb ramps, retaining walls, street lighting and intersection improvements, including roundabouts, are all also planned. There will be an open house on Tuesday, Feb. 24, for the project. The public open house is 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Concordia High School (15656 Fort St.).
