The Council Bluffs fire department chief submitted his resignation and will be departing from the role on March 28, officials announced Tuesday.The city said that Justin James’ resignation would be effective March 28.”Chief James has dedicated many years of service to the community, demonstrating strong leadership, commitment to public safety, and a deep dedication to the firefighters and residents he has served. During his tenure, he has played an important role in strengthening the department and ensuring the safety and well-being of our community,” Council Bluffs Mayor Jill Shudak said in a statement.Officials said Jim Wood is serving as the active fire chief as the city searches for a new permanent fire chief. Wood and James will be working together during the transitional phase, according to the city.”We are grateful for Chief James’ years of service and the positive impact he has made within the department and throughout the city.
