OMAHA — Fremont police have cited six people in connection with last week’s highly-publicized anti-ICE student protest that culminated in a youth being struck and injured by a vehicle displaying a Trump flag.
The male juvenile driver of the SUV was issued a ticket for leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, generally a felony offense. Also cited for being a pedestrian on a roadway was the young woman struck by the SUV. That typically is a misdemeanor offense.
The police statement issued Wednesday was brief, saying its “investigation into this incident has concluded.” It then listed citations for the six people, identifying only one by name because she was an adult. The others are juveniles.
That adult was cited for alleged criminal mischief and disorderly conduct, though neither the police statement nor the office handling media affairs offered further explanation or description of the alleged conduct.
Of the other three juveniles cited, one was ticketed for alleged criminal mischief and theft, and the other two were cited for obstructing a police officer and disorderly conduct. The statement offered no further information.
Neither the Fremont City Prosecutor or Dodge County Attorney were immediately available to elaborate on the Jan. 29 rally, citations or next steps.
The red SUV’s collision with the student protester was captured on video and set off a flurry of public statements by several Nebraska elected officials, including some who shared videos that were widely circulated on social media.

Many members of Nebraska’s congressional delegation called the incident disturbing and stated support for the freedom to safely protest.
According to News Channel Nebraska, which caught the rally and SUV-student collision on video, the driver of the red SUV with a Trump flag flying from its rear end stopped near a group of students in front of the high school and got out of the vehicle, exchanging words with protesters.
He returned to the car, revved the engine and drove forward.
The girl was in front of the vehicle, facing it, when she was struck and was flung to the side. A school administrator reportedly approached, and the driver drove off.
Fremont Public Schools released a statement at the time, saying that school administrators were supervising to ensure students were safe and peaceful. School officials described the 2 p.m. rally as a non-school sponsored, student-led demonstration. Some have criticized the adults for not intervening sooner.
