President Trump has appointed Erika Kirk to the Air Force Academy’s Board of Visitors.Erika Kirk is the widow of Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist who was killed in September 2025 while speaking at a Utah college. Kirk is replacing her husband on the Board of Visitors, which has 16 members, including Sen. Markwayne Mullin, who was just appointed to be the next Secretary of Homeland Security. The Air Force Academy’s Board of Visitors makes recommendations to the Defense Secretary for changes to the Air Force Academy. It also gives a report on the military institute’s morale, financial state and academics.While the board did not directly announce Erika Kirk’s appointment, her name appears on the list of members and the White House said that President Trump had “made the perfect choice” in her appointment. “Charlie Kirk served proudly on the Board, inspiring not only the next generation of servicemembers, but millions around the world with his bold Christian faith, defense of the truth, and deep love of country,” White House spokesperson Olivia Wales said in a statement. “Erika Kirk will continue his legacy, and will be a fearless advocate for the most elite airpower force in the history of the world whose warriors keep our Nation safe, strong, and free.”
