Darron Lee, 31, is accused of first-degree murder and tampering with evidence in the death of his girlfriend, 29-year-old Gabriella Perpetuo. Perpetuo was found dead in her Hamilton County, Tennessee, home last month.According to court documents, Lee was at the victim’s home when sheriff’s deputies arrived. He allegedly told sheriff’s deputies he found the woman unconscious on the couch and believed she may have fallen in the shower.In newly released body camera video, Lee can be seen telling deputies he doesn’t know what happened. During a preliminary hearing Monday, prosecutors laid out more of the alleged evidence against Lee, WTVC reported.Among the evidence prosecutors alleged were messages they say Lee submitted to ChatGPT. The messages were sent to the AI chatbot the day before Lee called 911.”I wake up and she has two swollen eyes, I didn’t do anything, self inflicted,” the entry reads. “She stabbed herself split her eye.” The state also showed ChatGPT’s response, which included, “Here’s what to say without framing it as police trouble.” “He has conversations, dozens of conversations, back and forth with ChatGPT over a two-day period about what he did to Gabriella Perpetuo in detail,” district attorney Coty Wamp said in court. “He asks how to cover it up. He asks what to say to 911.”Officials said they found broken glass in the kitchen and blood evidence in several areas of the house. Detectives also reported Lee had injuries consistent with a physical struggle.Evidence also suggested Lee tried to clean several areas of the home, officials said.Lee was a first-round draft pick who played for the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs.He remains in custody without bond.
