The first batch of streetcar rails was delivered to Omaha Thursday morning.The batch of rail arriving at 10th and Farnam streets is 1,500 pounds; each rail is 80 feet long; 100-foot-long semitrucks will be carrying the rails. Thursday morning is simply a delivery, but in the coming weeks, welding crews will visit Omaha to connect the rails into 300 to 400-foot sections. 11th and Farnam Streets will remain closed for approximately two weeks during this process.Omaha Streetcar Authority says in late March or early April, more rails will be delivered to the Blackstone area.
