Habitat Omaha hosted a kick-off event Thursday for the Pope Leo Village Initiative.The national campaign looks to motivate and inspire young adults to volunteer. The organization will host at least 600 new volunteers to build 20 homes across 20 days. It will take part in the group’s Bluestem Prairie neighborhood, an affordable housing project near 51st and Sorensen Parkway.Habitat Omaha is one of 15 Habitat for Humanity affiliates chosen to take part in the initiative.”It’s going to be all about community, I think, in a time where things can seem divisive,” said John Haske, the Chief Development Officer for Habitat Omaha. “It’ll be a unifying event that’s all about community.
