NFL player and former Millard West athlete Harrison Phillips hosted his “playmakers” for a night of bowling Thursday.Phillips is the CEO of “Harrison’s Playmakers”, a nonprofit dedicated to helping and empowering children facing social, physical or economic challenges. The organization operates nationally, focusing on multiple cities, including Omaha.”We try to do as many things as we can throughout the year,” Phillips said. “This is an event that is special to us because it allows so many different, adaptive activities.””Playmakers” had the opportunity to bowl, play arcade games and take part in laser tag. Phillips said he treasures the relationship he has with his “Playmakers,” and enjoys seeing the connections they make at events like this one.”I see these guys, they see each other as often as some people see their extended family,” said the NFL star. “I think that’s what makes it really special, seeing those bonds and friendships.”The organization is always looking for more youth to sign up, donors or more volunteers, according to Phillips.
