The Iowa Attorney General’s Office is warning people that there is an imposter website soliciting donations in honor of Sgt. Declan Coady. Coady was one of six members of the U.S. Army Reserve killed in action by an Iranian drone strike in Kuwait at the beginning of March. The AG’s office says the imposter website “DeclanCoadyFoundation.com” is one of the rising imposter scams it has warned people about. According to both the AG’s office and a media liaison for the Coady family, there are only two fundraising efforts that have been authorized by the family. Those can be found below: Declan Coady Memorial Fund — Drake UniversityOfficial GoFundMe organized by family members The family says the fund will help cover funeral and memorial costs that aren’t covered by the government, travel expenses for family members, and other unexpected expenses. A spokesperson for the Coady family shared the following: “Any other fundraising effort using Sgt. Coady’s name or likeness is not authorized by the family. The family and their representatives are actively working to identify and report unauthorized fundraising pages to the appropriate platforms and authorities.The Coady family remains deeply grateful for the outpouring of support from their community and from people across the country who wish to honor Declan’s life and service.”
