Iowa Lakes Community College provides an update on the recovery of its baseball team following a tragic bus crash that resulted in the death of a player and injuries to others.
Iowa Lakes Community College has provided an update on the recovery of its baseball team after a bus crash last Wednesday on Highway 4 between Jolley and Twin Lakes. 19-year-old Carter Johnson was killed and 32 others were injured. Authorities reported that the bus driver lost control on a curve before the vehicle rolled off the road. On Friday, Iowa Lakes said one player and the bus driver remain hospitalized, while other team members continue to recover. The community college has been honoring Johnson through tributes on social media, including a video from a student testimonial last semester.”My name is Carter Johnson, I’m in the Iowa Lakes criminal justice program,” Johnson said in the video.Johnson was laid to rest this week in his hometown of Rapid City, South Dakota. Iowa Lakes described the video as capturing Johnson as his loved ones knew him: thoughtful, humble, and grounded in purpose.”My favorite part of Iowa Lakes is the community.
