KETV Sports speaks with Husker play-by-play legend Kent Pavelka one-on-one
If you’ve listened to him on the radio, there’s nobody like him. From his enthusiasm on the call to catchy catch phrases, Kent Pavelka is the voice of Nebraska basketball. Our Lorne Michaelson went one on one with the play by play legend. For 51 years, Nebraska broadcaster Kent Pavelka has been synonymous with Husker basketball, witnessing every high, every heartbreak, and now Kent may be on the call for *** little bit of Husker history. Holy smokes, what *** sequence. For decades, fans have listened to Kent Pavelka call Nebraska basketball, his voice instantly recognizable. Frager, 3 ball on the way, got it. Ago. His calls sometimes unpredictable. It is Lawrence puts it up. God. Ah, 2 seconds to go inbounds play. I’m gonna pass out. Always authentic. You know what kind of *** broadcaster ends the game with that, you know, um. But it was honest. It was honest. The bow tie is just part of the legacy, but more than anything, it’s Kent’s passion for the Huskers that’s defined more than half *** century behind the mic. But one moment’s missing. An NCAA tournament win. I don’t know how many years I’ve got left. This has got to be the year for Pavelka. This run is personal. Pretty much everything now as he stands on the edge of what would be the biggest moment in program history, Pavelka is still searching for the words. The you know, the enthusiasm and the steadfast support and the without. Maybe the dividend that everybody hoped they could get, I mean they’ve been *** good program, *** really good program, but they have not been as successful as I think this team’s going to be once we once we finish it tomorrow night. But this is really trite, but there really isn’t any place like this anywhere. I mean, look at this. This is the shootaround. I don’t know. I now you’re putting me on the spot. I don’t know what I’m going to say if they win. Everybody’s asking that. I don’t know, man. It’s just got to be, it’ll, it’ll be what it is. If that moment comes, if Nebraska finally wins their first ever NCAA tournament game, it would be *** call of *** lifetime for Kent Pavelka. Reporting from the Paycom Center, Lorne Michaelson, KTV News Watch 7 Sports.
