Missing couple timeline, investigators find human remains first day in Saunders County search

In an update on the search, Lincoln Police Lt. The witness also told investigators that James admitted he shot Neville twice while she was in a car.“One of the big things that we’re looking for is are there multiple scenes and where are there multiple scenes at,” Romshek said. “And that’s something that we continue to investigate and that will continue to work on identifying.”Court documents show the witness also told investigators that Sayde Titus helped James clean the car after re-burying the couple in a different location.James faces two counts of first-degree murder. Titus faces aiding and abetting charges. According to court documents, Sterling James told Lincoln police that on Jan. 15, his mother told him Tanner was texting her about having “sexual fantasies with other family members.”

James told police that because Tanner was staying with his family, he tried talking with his half-brother about the messages. James said Tanner left, and referenced getting a gun and was picked up by a person with long hair in a dark SUV.

Court documents state that Neville’s roommate told police Neville went to 1215 Arapahoe St. to pick up her husband, Tanner, later that same day, Jan. 15.

The roommate told police she had Neville on Life360 and upgraded her app to better track Neville’s phone.

  1. Arapahoe Street to 7600 Northwest 27th Street from 8 p.m. until 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 15
  2. Northwest 27th Street to North 40th Street and Branched Oak Road in a tree line from 1:50 a.m. to 5:43 a.m. on Jan. 16th
  3. Branched Oak Road to 1320 South Street at 5:59 a.m.
  4. 1320 South Street to a Lincoln landfill at Highway 77 and Bluff Road at 2:21 p.m.

One witness told police they saw James, a woman, and what appeared to be a deceased woman on the ground and eventually saw them put her in an SUV and leave.

In an update on the search, Lincoln Police Lt. Dustin Romshek said authorities are waiting for confirmation from officials.

“We can’t positively identify them from just looking at them,” Romshek said. “So we are going to wait for the pathologists to do their investigation, which may take some time, and get that confirmation for us.”
