Nebraska men’s basketball coach says team didn’t handle the pressure well against Iowa
per Once we’ll get ready for questions for Coach Holbert. Yeah, I mean, I, you know, obviously first of all, give credit to Iowa. I thought they, they really got underneath us. Their physicality overwhelmed us. You looked at the first half, you know, 19 to 6 on the glass. It’s, uh, you know, and, and we’re down 5 points. We were still within 2 possessions, and, you know, listen, when they take away passes like that, somebody’s got to put the ball on the deck and make *** play. The, the few shots we did get, we unfortunately didn’t knock them down. And um. Again, they made the necessary plays to win the game. How concerning is the offensive class given and the past 5? Yeah, I thought, you know, we were better in the last game and, you know, obviously 2 of the last 3, we weren’t very good. What do you make of Hal Price play tonight? Uh, you know, that’s always, listen, that’s such an emotional game for him, you know, with the chance going on, uh, during the warm-ups and everything, and you just got to do everything you can to block it out. And, you know, obviously, he was the guy that they really keyed on out there and got, uh, up underneath him, you know, he’s an all-league player. He he’s having an unbelievable season for us, and, uh, you know, the kid’s got an, an incredible future. He’s one of the greatest kids I’ve ever coached, you know, he’s just, uh, all about the right things. Never has any distractions, you know, he’s *** 40 student. He just, he just does everything right. So, you know, I’m, I’m proud of him for how he handled everything in *** tough environment, and *** tough game to have to come back and play. And, you know, listen, we gotta, we can’t hang our heads. We can’t sulk after this one. We got to find *** way to regroup and, and bounce back. We got *** big one coming up on Saturday. That sequence when it was at 45, 45s. And then Fraker had to turn over. Did that feel like kind of *** moment where you could just hit the edge there? Yeah, I mean, you know, again, you, you give up 57 on the road, you should have *** pretty good chance to win the game, but, you know, again, give Iowa credit. They, they had ***, *** game plan that took us out of what we wanted to run and, you know, forced us into some things. And again, when we did get looks, which, which wasn’t very often, we, we got to find *** way to knock those down. What can you say about the way? What do you think Iowa forced you and how do you think they got you? Well, they pressured us. What can you say about the way Bennets played tonight? Yeah, the kid’s an animal. I think he’s, he’s as good as anybody in the country. The kid’s absolutely phenomenal. What can you do to match the physicality offensively? It seems like teams are kind of starting to, yeah, I, it’s *** will, Robin. I mean, you, you gotta find *** way to, to get them off you, you know, curls, that kind of thing. We did ***, *** solid job getting it in the rink *** couple of times on *** couple of switches, uh, but yeah, you just, you, you gotta listen. When, when you see pressure, your eyes should light up and, and, you know, we just did not handle it well at all tonight. Did you get an explanation on the DeMarcus backcourt violation? Uh, I, I, I didn’t. I, I talked to, no, I, I didn’t. I didn’t. Anything else coach Thanks guys.
