20S BY MORNING. BACK TO YOU. HAPPENING TODAY IN THE NEBRASKA LEGISLATURE, LAWMAKERS FORMALLY TAKE ACTION AGAINST OMAHA STATE SENATOR MIKAELA KAVANAGH. THEY SAY HER ACTIONS LAST MONTH WHEN REMOVING DISPLAYS IN THE STATE CAPITOL WERE RASH. SENATOR KAVANAGH APOLOGIZED AGAIN TODAY, BUT SAYS THE DISPLAYS, RECOGNIZING THE US’S 250TH BIRTHDAY WERE NOT PROPERLY APPROVED. THAT WAS MY ACTION AND I HAVE TAKEN RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT. BUT I WILL NOT APOLOGIZE FOR SPEAKING UP FOR THE ABOUT THE INTEGRITY OF OUR HISTORY OR THIS INSTITUTION. I WILL NOT APOLOGIZE FOR ASKING THE PEOPLE’S CAPITOL TO TELL THE FULL STORY OF THE PEOPLE OF THIS COUNTRY, AND I WILL NOT APOLOGIZE FOR EXPECTING FAIR PROCESS FROM THE GOVERNING BODIES OF THIS LEGISLATURE. THE REPRIMAND IS NOT HAVING ANY ACTUAL PUNISHMENT FOR SENATOR KAVANAGH. IT’S MORE OF A SLAP ON THE WRIST. BUT BLAIR SENATOR BEN HANSON SAYS THEY TAKE THIS STUFF SERIOUSLY. Cavanaugh apologized again Thursday, but said the displays were *not properly approved.
