Omaha Public Schools students made toys for the adoptable pets at the Nebraska Humane Society.Tabitha the kitten, along with dogs Eduardo and Tauro, got a kick out of the toys from the Special Education students at JP Lord Elementary School.Tabitha was still playing with her toy, rolling around in her kennel, hours after she was given it. Eduardo, a 1-year-old cattle dog, had a blast playing tug-of-war, while Tauro, a 6-year-old English Bulldog mix, was a little gentler with the toys. Stop by the Nebraska Humane Society to meet all sorts of pets like them.The note delivered with the toys said: “These dog rope toys were made by the special education students at JP Lord Elementary School. We are currently reading the book: ‘A Dog’s Way Home,’ and we thought it would be fun to make some toys for the dogs at the Humane Society. The students really had a great time making them. We hope the dogs enjoy their toys. … Thank you for your help in bringing this lesson full circle.”The shelter said they will be sending the toys home with pets as they’re adopted. “Thank you so much to the students at JP Lord for their thoughtfulness and selflessness.
