HEAD COACH TODD SEPSIS SAYS IT HAPPENED THURSDAY MORNING RIGHT HERE IN THE UNI-DOME. THEY WERE DOING A WARM UP THAT THEY DO BEFORE EVERY SINGLE WORKOUT AND AFTER THEY FINISH, THAT’S WHEN HE SAID PARKER COLLAPSED. JUST AS THE CALL OUT FOR AN 18 YEAR OLD MALE FOOTBALL PLAYER THAT PASSED OUT, FIRST RESPONDERS WERE CALLED TO HELP A FOOTBALL PLAYER THURSDAY MORNING AT 715, CEDAR FALLS FIRE DEPARTMENT TELLS KCCI THE PLAYER WENT INTO CARDIAC ARREST. HE’S BARELY BREATHING AND HE DOES HAVE A FAINT PULSE. COACH STEPSIS SAYS THAT PLAYER WAS PARKER SUTHERLAND. HE SAYS THE FRESHMAN TIGHT END COLLAPSED RIGHT AFTER A WARM UP. THEY DO ALMOST EVERY DAY. 48 HOURS LATER, THE UNIVERSITY ANNOUNCED PARKER HAD DIED. IT’S BEEN TOUGH, YOU KNOW, IT’S BEEN A IT’S BEEN A TOUGH COUPLE DAYS FOR THE TEAM. Parker Sutherland, 18, a freshman tight end at the University of Northern Iowa, died Saturday after collapsing during a warm-up at practice on Thursday, the university said.First responders were called to the UNI Dome at 7:15 a.m. Thursday, according to a call log on the city’s website. Two days later, the university announced Sutherland’s death. No cause of death has been announced.Sutherland is an Iowa City native who played in four games at tight end for the Panthers last fall.
