The Omaha Police Officers Association has identified the body found Wednesday night as that of longtime Deacon John Zak.In a post on Facebook, the OPOA says, “Our officers’ thoughts are with the family of John Zak, who was murdered in Omaha on Wednesday night. John was an active member of the community and a deacon at St. Peter’s Catholic Church.”On Wednesday night, Omaha police were called to a home near 36th and Cass, which property records confirm is Zak’s home. There, officers found a man dead.Then, Thursday morning, police said a vehicle of interest in the investigation was spotted near Interstate 80 and 13th. Police attempted to stop the vehicle, which led to a pursuit. The pursuit ended near 10th and Martha.
