Omaha police responded to a barricade situation. It happened just after 10 p.m. Wednesday night in the area of 96th and Park Drive. Police said the victim was held in an apartment complex by an armed person, who they knew. Police were able to safely remove the victim from the apartment, but said the suspect refused to leave the building. Police did not say what the suspect was armed with. Police called for additional resources, including a K-9 and armored vehicles while they tried to get the suspect out. Police said around 3:00 a.m., they used a ‘distraction device’ to take the suspect into custody. The events that led up to the barricade situation are under investigation.
