Celebrating Black History Month, Omaha’s Riverfront sets up a history walk
YOU’RE RIGHT, YOU’RE RIGHT. AT LEAST THERE’S SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO. YES. THANKS, BILL. WELL, THIS FEBRUARY MARKS THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF BLACK HISTORY MONTH. SINCE IT WAS FIRST RECOGNIZED HERE IN THE U.S. AND DESPITE THE COLD TODAY, MANY ARE OUTSIDE TO DISCOVER THE STORY BEHIND AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY. METEOROLOGIST LUKE VICKERY IS OUT OF THE GENE LEAHY MALL TO BRING US THE DETAILS. LUKE. YEAH. BILL QUANECIA IT’S A LITTLE CHILLY OUTSIDE HERE THIS AFTERNOON, BUT WITH NOT MUCH OF A BREEZE AROUND. THERE’S MALCOLM X, THERE’S MANY OTHER PEOPLE, THERE’S WRITERS, THERE’S SONGWRITERS, PLENTY OF PEOPLE, EVEN DOCTORS ON HERE THAT HAVE ALL PLAYED SOME PART IN AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY HERE. AND THE FORECAST FOR THIS EVENING, IF YOU DO WANT TO COME OUT, IT IS ONE OF THE CHILLIER DAYS, I MUST SAY, IN THE SEVEN-DAY FORECAST, WHERE WE’LL GO FROM THE LOWER 30S INTO THE UPPER 20S OUTSIDE. BUT THE SEVEN-DAY FORECAST DOES BRING WARMER WEATHER ONCE WE GET TO ABOUT THURSDAY.
