He died seven days later on Sunday, March 8.He was assigned to 1st Space Battalion, 1st Space Brigade, Fort Carson, Colorado.Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear released a statement saying: “Kentucky, I am sad to share we just received news that Sgt. Benjamin N. Pennington from Glendale has died due to injuries from an Iranian attack. Sgt. Pennington is a hero who sacrificed everything serving our country. Please join Britainy and me as we pray for his family and our fellow Kentuckians during this difficult time.”Pennington is the seventh U.S. service member killed since the war with Iran began Feb. 28.The news of the fallen service member came a day after the dignified transfer for the six soldiers who were killed last week in Kuwait. President Donald Trump and other top officials joined the families of those troops at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware as the soldiers were brought home.That strike, which came without warning, occurred on a makeshift operations center at the civilian port of Shuaiba in Kuwait on March 1.
