PHOTOS: Dazzling ‘space jellyfish’ illuminates sky after SpaceX rocket launch
THE NEXT LAUNCH FROM THE SPACE COAST IS HAPPENING ON MONDAY, AND I WANT YOU THIS MORNING TO TAKE A LOOK AT THIS IMAGE OF WHAT IT’S CALLED A JELLYFISH, NOT IN THE WATER, BUT IN THE AIR. THIS MORNING. METEOROLOGIST ERIC BURRIS HERE NOW. WHAT EXACTLY DOES THIS MEAN? A JELLYFISH? IT LOOKS LIKE A JELLYFISH, RIGHT? SO IS THAT WHY THIS IS ONE OF THE COOLEST THINGS? OKAY, SO ESSENTIALLY, THINK ABOUT IT. WE’RE RIGHT AROUND SUNRISE. BUT AS THE ROCKET GETS HIGHER IN THE SKY, THE EARTH’S NOT BLOCKING THE SUN. SO WE’RE GETTING IT LIT. SO WHILE WE’RE STILL IN THE DARK DOWN HERE, AS THE ROCKET GETS HIGHER, IT’S CATCHING THE SUNLIGHT. OKAY, ANOTHER PROOF THAT THE EARTH IS NOT FLAT. THAT’S SO COOL. BUT IT’S CATCHING IT.
