Speed skater Brittany Bowe celebrates engagement as Olympic career wraps

*** 4 time Olympian, Brittany Bow closes her Team USA career here in Italy without winning *** medal, but she is going home with some serious hardware. Showing off her ring to us in the famed Duomo, Brittany Bow was all smiles, talking about getting engaged at the games to her longtime girlfriend, hockey superstar Hilary Knight. Yeah, it’s been *** magical few weeks here in Milan, uh, you know, getting engaged and being able to really celebrate these last 4 years together, and to close that circle here. In Milan at the Olympics has been unbelievable. While she and Knight are high profile athletes who are routinely in the spotlight, Bowe says she’s been overwhelmed by the social media interest in their engagement. I have been so blessed to be surrounded by nothing but love, support, words of encouragement my whole life and career, and I’ve been met with nothing but that with our engagement announcement, and it’s just been *** blessing because I know for so many people that’s not the case, but I am blessed that it’s just so great. *** medal to close her Olympic career would have also been great, but she’s finding positives. The competition for me was tough, finishing 3 4th place finishes, you know, the toughest spot to finish at the games, but I can easily say that, you know, it’s been the greatest experience of my life, being able to see my family and friends in the stands, especially after an empty arena in Beijing 4 years ago. And now that she’s got *** moment of free time. We’re we’re here live at the Cuomo. Are you just finally having *** chance to catch your breath after what has been *** life changing week and maybe enjoy Milan? Yeah, finally having *** chance to step outside of the village and take in this beautiful, uh, beautiful city of Milan and yeah, running into you here. Finally, as for where Brittany Bow will be racing off to next, Hillary’s got to go right back to playing, but I have, uh, nothing but time on my hands. So I’ve, uh, got *** handful of tickets to Seattle to go watch her play, and then my mom’s sister and I, uh, we’ve already planned our, uh, girls’ trip to Turk’s here in *** couple of weeks.
