One of three suspects charged in an attempted robbery that led to one person’s death has been sentenced. A Douglas County District Court judge sentenced Darnell Marion-Jones to 19 to 20 years for manslaughter and 10 to 20 years in prison for possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony. Marion-Jones will serve the sentences consecutively, meaning one after the other. He was given credit for time served.Omaha police arrested Marion-Jones, Marquis Jones and a 15-year-old after the shooting in September 2024. Cameron Watkins died at the hospital after being shot. Investigators said it appeared Marion-Jones and the 15-year-old were trying to rob Marquis Jones when gunfire broke out.The 15-year-old was originally charged as an adult with manslaughter and other counts. His case was later transferred to juvenile court. Marquis Jones is awaiting trial on two counts, including second-degree assault.
