You can download the app for free, and once you download it, all you have to do is add “Douglas-Omaha alerts” to stay informed.Emergency Management Director Whitney Shipley says it offers an inclusive approach to emergency situations.”Some of the newer immigrants to this area have mentioned that in their home countries, they don’t have tornado sirens or outdoor warning sirens. And so, when they hear those sirens, they’re not necessarily sure what that means or what measures to take. And so, we want to offer this regional applications because that’s the most detailed information the public can get is from the weather service directly,” said Shipley.A weather radio is also a great option.
