The Sports for Kids Foundation raises money primarily through its annual memorabilia auction and other fundraising events, using the proceeds to help families cover costs related to therapy, medical equipment and specialized programs.

Over the years, the organization has helped fund equine therapy sessions, adaptive sports programs, protective helmets for infants with certain medical conditions, and other equipment designed to improve the quality of life for children.

This year’s auction will feature sports memorabilia from a wide range of athletes and teams, along with entertainment and historical items. Organizers say the variety helps draw bidders while supporting the foundation’s mission.

“We’re very proud of what we do,” Vacanti said. “We think we have some what we would call top shelf items.”

While attendees may walk away with signed jerseys, footballs or other collectibles, organizers say the larger goal is helping children and their families overcome challenges.

“You can walk out of here with something like this or a jersey,” Vacanti said. “But the biggest thing is you’re making an impact on the lives of some kids.”

The nonprofit has been operating for more than three decades and has helped thousands of children through donations and support programs.
