Thundersnow lights up skies over Massachusetts town as nor’easter moves in
DOUG AND ANTOINETTE. ALL RIGHT. CINDY, THANK YOU. THE COAST SEEING A BIG SURGE FROM THIS STORM. LET’S GET TO THE EYEOPENER’S TED WAYMAN LIVE FOR US IN SCITUATE THIS MORNING. TED. WE’RE A COUPLE HOURS PAST HIGH TIDE. HOW’S THE COASTLINE LOOKING? WHERE YOU ARE? WELL, I’LL TELL YOU, IT’S ROCK AND ROLL. HERE, GUYS, WE GOT BIG HIGH WINDS JUST TO MY RIGHT SIDE. OVER HERE. THIS IS SCITUATE HARBOR. JUST SO YOU KNOW, WE’RE AT NOT TOO FAR FROM HIM. JUST ON THE OTHER SIDE IS THE OCEAN SIDE. BUT CINDY HAS BEEN TALKING ABOUT ALL THIS MORNING. WE’RE GOING TO SHOW YOU WHAT THUNDERSNOW LOOKS LIKE. TAKE THIS VIDEO, GUYS. WE’VE HAD ABOUT SIX HITS OF LIGHTNING, ALSO REFERRED TO AS THUNDERSNOW, WHERE THE WHOLE SKY TURNS INTO THIS MAJESTIC PURPLE. AND OBVIOUSLY THIS SNOW IS COMING DOWN HARD. WE’VE GOT SUSTAINED WINDS, PROBABLY 30 TO 40 MILES AN HOUR HERE. AND THEN WE GOT GUSTS, WHICH WE JUST GOT THAT CAN KICK UP TO CLOSE TO 50 MILES AN HOUR. NOW TAKE A LOOK AT THESE WINDS TO MY RIGHT. THIS IS A FLAGPOLE HERE. RIGHT ON SCITUATE HARBOR. AND TO SHOW YOU ALSO NOT TOO FAR FROM HERE, WE’RE ON THE OTHER SIDE IS THE OCEANSIDE. WE’RE GOING TO SHOW YOU SOME WASHOVER AND SOME SLIGHT FLOODING THEY HAD AROUND HIGH TIDE, WHICH JUST HAPPENED JUST AFTER 3:00 THIS MORNING. A LITTLE FLOODED STREETS. NOW, WHAT WE’VE ALSO SEEN IS THAT THEY’VE LOST POWER A COUPLE TIMES HERE IN SCITUATE. BUT THE ONE THING I WANT TO SHOW YOU RIGHT HERE, LOOK HOW THE ON ONE SIDE OF THIS TREE, WE ALREADY HAVE PROBABLY 2IN OR 3IN OF STUCK SNOW HERE. AND ON THE BACKSIDE, OBVIOUSLY WITH THE WIND IT IS THERE’S NO SNOW ON THAT SIDE. SO WE CERTAINLY GOT SOME INTERESTING CONDITIONS HERE. THUNDERSNOW JUST HAPPENED AGAIN LIVE.
