The contract intended to grow the state’s bioeconomy was given to Julie Bushell. She owns Global Sustainability Developers. Now auditor Foley says the justifications by the governor’s team for giving *** no-bid contract fall flat. We reached out to Pille’s office. We have not heard back. In the Iowa State House, Governor Kim Reynolds signs *** bill that bans local governments from creating new civil rights protections. The bill only allows cities to protect rights covered by state law. Now, Iowa removed gender identity from its Civil Rights Act last year. This new law requires cities and counties that do have gender identity protections in place to remove them. This will impact at least 7 Iowa cities.
