A large tree branch nearly impaled a driver in Kingston, Massachusetts, early Monday when it crashed through a plow truck’s windshield as the powerful nor’easter moved across the region.The 6-inch-wide branch fell, smashed through the windshield, and landed between the driver’s legs, missing him by inches, police said. “There is no sugar-coating this. It’s bad out here. The worst in years, and it’s not over yet,” Kingston police posted with photos of the damaged vehicle.Police, fire and highway crews are working to remove snow, downed power lines and disabled vehicles — all while trying to respond to calls for service, as well, the department said. “Roads are plowed and immediately begin to get covered again. Winds are extreme and blowing branches onto lines and the road,” police said.No injuries were reported in this close call.
