Woman dies after getting caught under St. Patrick’s Day Parade float in Kentucky

TODAY, A WOMAN HAS DIED AFTER SHE WAS HIT BY A FLOAT IN THE SAINT PATRICK’S DAY PARADE. MEGAN MATTHEWS TALKED TO PEOPLE IN THE AREA. WHAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A HAPPY DAY TOOK A TURN FOR THE WORST. AFTER A WOMAN WALKING IN THE SAINT PATRICK’S DAY PARADE FELL AND WAS HIT BY A VEHICLE. SHE LATER PASSED FROM THOSE INJURIES. ACCORDING TO LMPD, THIS HAPPENED NEAR BARDSTOWN ROAD AND GRINSTEAD DRIVE JUST BEFORE FOUR. A WOMAN WHO WAS WALKING IN THE PARADE CAUGHT HER FOOT ON THE FLOAT, CAUSING HER TO FALL. SHE WAS THEN CAUGHT UNDER THE VEHICLE AND WAS HIT. WE RECEIVED THIS VIDEO TAKEN SHORTLY AFTER THE ACCIDENT, SHOWING EMS PROVIDING MEDICAL CARE BEFORE SHE WAS TRANSPORTED TO U OF L HOSPITAL, WHERE SHE LATER DIED FROM HER INJURIES. I ACTUALLY SAW THE PARADE STOP. THEY PAUSED FOR A SECOND AND THEN STARTED LOOKING FOR THE CARS TO, YOU KNOW, THE NEXT CARS COMING UP. AND THEN I SEEN THE AMBULANCE RUSHING THERE WITH A STRETCHER. DAVID YAMBA, THE OWNER OF EDEN AND KISSY FOOD TRUCK, WAS NEARBY WHEN IT HAPPENED. IT’S HEARTBREAKING. THIS IS THE NEWS THAT WE DON’T WANT TO HEAR, YOU KNOW? A woman was struck and killed during a St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Louisville, Kentucky, on Saturday. The woman, identified as Joan Pannuti Pottinger, was walking next to one of the parade floats when her foot got caught under the float. She fell and was struck by a vehicle, according to Louisville Metro Police.Pottinger, 50, was taken to the hospital, where she later died. Mayor Craig Greenberg released a statement on X reading, “I am so sorry to hear about the tragic accident that took a woman’s life at today’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Please join Rachel and me in keeping her family and friends in your prayers. May her memory be a blessing.”
