CONNECTED TO THE CRIME. THERE IS NO MOTIVE AT THIS TIME. AND NOW TO FORT PIERCE, WHERE A WOMAN WAS KILLED IN A FREAK ACCIDENT WHILE SHE WAS SITTING BY A POOL. POLICE SAY THE DRIVER SUFFERED A MEDICAL EPISODE AND LOST CONTROL OF THE SUV. DRIVING THROUGH A FENCE DIRECTLY INTO THE POOL AREA. ARI HAIT IS IN FORT PIERCE WITH MORE ON EXACTLY HOW THIS HAPPENED AND HOW IT HAS STUNNED NEIGHBORS. I WAS TALKING TO SOME NEIGHBORS HERE IN THE LONGWOOD COMMUNITY IN FORT PIERCE. THEY TELL ME BIZARRE DOES NOT BEGIN TO DESCRIBE THIS. THIS IS LONGWOOD CIRCLE RIGHT HERE. ACCORDING TO POLICE, THE WOMAN HOPPED THE CURB. YOU CAN SEE HER TIRE TRACKS HERE IN THE GRASS. PAINT LEFT OVER BY INVESTIGATORS SHOWS THE PATH SHE TOOK ACROSS THE SIDEWALK THROUGH MORE GRASS AND THROUGH THESE HEDGES, THROUGH THE FENCING AROUND THE POOL, INTO THE POOL AREA WHERE SHE HIT A WOMAN WHO WAS JUST LYING THERE SUNBATHING. IT WAS VERY HORRIBLE AND ALSO VERY, YOU KNOW, FREAK ACCIDENT, LIKE, YOU KNOW, LIGHTNING STRIKING. IT WAS IT WAS AWFUL. AND SURREAL. GREG ROUTH LIVES NEXT TO THE POOL NEXT TO WHERE THIS CRASH HAPPENED SATURDAY, JUST AFTER 2 P.M., WE HEAR A LOUD BANG. IT WAS EXTREMELY LOUD AND SHOOK OUR HOUSE AND WALK OUTSIDE, AND A BLACK JEEP HAD RAN INTO MY NEIGHBOR’S HOUSE. ROUTH RAN TO HELP, NOTICED THE DRIVER WAS NOT RESPONSIVE. POLICE HAVE NOT RELEASED HER NAME, BUT SAY SHE’S 38 YEARS OLD, SCREAMING ON THE PHONE TO THE 911 OPERATOR. YOU KNOW, THINKING IF I, YOU KNOW, SCREAM LOUDER, THEY’LL GET AN AMBULANCE HERE FASTER. BUT IT WAS IT WAS AWFUL. POLICE SAY IT APPEARS THE DRIVER SUFFERED SOME SORT OF MEDICAL EPISODE, WHICH CAUSED HER TO DRIVE OFF THE ROAD, THROUGH THE HEDGES, THROUGH THE POOL FENCING, SOMEHOW MISSING THE POOL, AND INSTEAD HITTING A 65 YEAR OLD WOMAN LYING NEXT TO THE POOL. THE CAR KEPT GOING, CRASHING THROUGH MORE FENCING BEFORE SLAMMING INTO A NEIGHBOR’S HOME. THE 65 YEAR OLD WAS FOUND UNDER THE VEHICLE SHE HAD BEEN KILLED. HER NAME HAS NOT BEEN RELEASED. NEIGHBORS SAY SHE WAS IN TOWN FROM MASSACHUSETTS VISITING FAMILY. LIFE’S NOT FAIR. THIS WAS A HORRIBLE FREAK ACCIDENT AND JUST WANT TO PRAY FOR HER AND HER FAMILY. AT THIS POINT, THE DRIVER HAS NOT BEEN CHARGED. POLICE S
