Boys Town celebrates founder Fr. Edward Flanagan’s 100th birthday in 1986
BOYS TOWN, Neb. —
A celebration was held on Boys Town’s campus to honor the 100th birthday of founder Father Edward J. Flanagan back in 1986.
The campus took part in a Mass, honoring the man, who in 1917 started with $90 and began a home for boys who had fallen on tough times.

“This institution Boys Town and the contribution that is made to the service of youth across this country and across the world are evidence of the tremendous far-seeing outlook that he had,” said one of the event organizers.
