OMAHA — Eight Nebraska educators are being recognized for outstanding positive impact on Catholic students and schools in northeast Nebraska.

The group will be honored during the Archbishop’s 49th Dinner for Education scheduled Sept. 24 at Omaha’s CHI Health Center.
“Their commitment to the faith and to Catholic education is an inspiration to all,” Vickie Kauffold, superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Archdiocese of Omaha, said in a statement.
The annual dinner also raises funds for needs-based scholarships to help students attend Catholic schools.
This year’s winners:
Administrators of the year: Amy Evans, St. Isidore in Columbus; Trish Wallinger, St. Mary in Bellevue.
Elementary educators of the year: Laura Morrison, St. Rose of Lima in Crofton; Shannon Watkins, St. Patrick in Elkhorn.
Secondary educators of the year: Jason Konicek, Norfolk Catholic; Sister Carol Jean VanDenHemel, Mt. Michael Benedictine High School in Elkhorn.
Maginn Family Foundation educators of the year (for service to inner-city and underserved youth): Alison Dibelka, Sts. Peter & Paul in Omaha; Katie Laughhunn, St. Bernadette in Omaha.
