A contractor was critically hurt after falling off scaffolding at the Northeast Omaha OPPD power plant early Monday morning. Omaha fire and police responded to the plant off John J Pershing Drive, near the Missouri River, around 4:20 a.m. Omaha Battalion Chief Kurt Theiler told KETV NewsWatch 7’s Anna Behning the person was cleaning a boiler and fell about 20-25 feet. OPPD told KETV that the contractor fell about 20 to 40 feet while erecting scaffolding inside the boiler for routine maintenance.The contractor’s superintendent witnessed the incident as it happened, officials said.OPPD said the contractor had a cut on his head, but was able to walk out on his own.Theiler said they were awake and talking with first responders on the way to the hospital.
