The Hearst National Investigative Unit reviewed Washington fire and EMS communications from Saturday night. At 8:27 p.m., an ambulance was dispatched for a person with “chest pain” at a home not far from the U.S. Capitol building that property records show was owned by Graham.
The first units were on scene within five minutes. You can listen to dispatch audio above.
Graham had served in the Senate since 2003 after voters first elected him in 2002, and he was campaigning this year for a fifth term.
A former Air Force lawyer, Graham became one of the Republican Party’s most prominent voices on foreign policy and national security during his time in Washington.
Though he spent years as a critic of Donald Trump, Graham later became one of the president’s closest allies and most outspoken defenders.
