A family is now displaced after a house fire in Omaha. The fire happened near 60th and Hamilton streets around 1:04 a.m. Tuesday. Battalion Chief Paul Kleffner said firefighters were called to a report of a fire in the basement. When crews arrived, they found heavy fire coming from the basement windows. The homeowners were outside. The homeowners had tried to get their dog out, but firefighters found the dog dead inside. Crews got the fire under control in about 15 minutes. A family of five was displaced, and an estimate of $15,000 in damages was reported.Most of the damage was in the basement.
