Hundreds gather for protests after man shot, killed by ICE agent in Maine
BIDDEFORD, Maine —
Hundreds of people gathered to protest in Biddeford, Maine, after a man was shot and killed by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent on Monday morning.
Many people protested ICE’s actions, while others demonstrated their support.

“I’m sad. I’m angry,” said one person in the crowd.
“It just is very, very, very scary,” said another.
One demonstrator encouraged others to speak up.
“You need to speak out, and you need to make your voice heard,” the demonstrator said.

At times, there was tension between the two groups, and the Biddeford Police Department worked to disperse the crowd.
Long-time residents of Biddeford said they never thought they would see an incident like this happen so close to home.
“We don’t think it’s going to happen here. It’s a beautiful community. It’s lovely. It’s peaceful. “It’s not peaceful anymore,” said Sharon Sevigny, who is originally from Biddeford.
Sister station WMUR spoke to protest organizers, who said they expect similar rallies to be held in Biddeford in the coming days.
