The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an in-custody death that occurred Sunday night at the Norfolk Police Division.Norfolk police arrested a 33-year-old man for first-degree sexual assault Easter morning. A release from the department stated he was routinely checked on throughout the day.Officers found the man unresponsive in his cell around 10:30 p.m. from an apparent suicide. Lifesaving measures were performed, and the man was taken to Faith Regional Hospital, where he was declared dead.A grand jury will be gathered to review evidence once the sheriff’s office finishes the investigation.
