A new video shot this week showed mayfly swarms near Mandeville, which is outside of New Orleans.Other viewers of New Orleans sister station WDSU sent in pictures showing the swarms on their cars.Mayflies leave their freshwater homes when their wings develop. The insects take to land to mate, a process that is short-lived because they live for only 24 to 72 hours after leaving their water homes.
