Nicholas Sakis was cited for eight counts of animal cruelty and two counts of sanitary conditions of stalls, stables, and yards
Now, NHS is asking for help to make room for the influx of 79 animals to the shelter.
The incident happened at a home near 195th and Pacific streets, and animal control officers confiscated a variety of animals, including a zebra, emu, alpacas, ponies, donkeys, pigs, chickens, geese, and ducks.
NHS said the man had been cited a week prior to the search warrant for four counts of animal cruelty.
The shelter was at 78% capacity before the confiscation, and now NHS has announced a sale to help make room.
“When those emergencies happen, suddenly we’re hitting that 100% capacity. Even higher at times. So what we ask people to do is come adopt,” said Steven Elonich.
