Omaha police deploy Taser after domestic disturbance early Wednesday morning
One person suffered serious injuries after a domestic disturbance and police chase that ended with a Taser deployment early Wednesday in Omaha.
A 29-year-old man is in custody after officers used a Taser during a domestic disturbance involving a machete, Omaha police said.The incident happened near 16th and Yates streets around 4:45 a.m. Wednesday.Investigators said a 40-year-old woman was seriously hurt, but is expected to survive her injuries.Police said the disturbance involved a man and a woman, though their relationship was not immediately known. Officers said the man, identified as Deseandre Dickens, was armed with a machete and threatened the woman, holding her at machete point.Police said the man then ran, leading officers on a pursuit near 16th and Victor streets. Officers used a Taser and took him into custody.Dickens was arrested for false imprisonment, second-degree domestic assault, theft by unlawful taking, weapon use to commit a felony, burglary, terroristic threats, resisting arrest, obstructing a peace officer, and several unrelated warrants.Authorities said the machete was not found. Officers also talked to an additional victim, a 37-year-old man, who was present during the incident but was not hurt.
