HIGHLIGHTS AND MORE. POSTGAME REACTION FROM NEBRASKA’S HISTORIC WIN. EPPLEY AIRFIELD REACHES THE HALFWAY POINT IN ITS TERMINAL MODERNIZATION PROJECT, GETTING EASIER TO VISUALIZE THE MASSIVE CHANGES COMING. KETV NEWSWATCH SEVEN’S AARON HEGARTY IS LIVE AT EPPLEY WITH OUR INSIDE LOOK. AARON. YEAH, JULIE QUANECIA. THE GROUNDBREAKING WAS IN FEBRUARY 2024 AND THE AIRPORT IS STILL SPLIT INTO TWO, AND THE PROGRESS IS MOSTLY HIDDEN TO TRAVELERS. BUT TODAY WE GOT A CLOSER LOOK INSIDE. THERE’S STILL PLENTY OF WORK TO GO. ABOUT HALF OF IT. WE’RE ON SCHEDULE AND ON BUDGET, BUT AIRPORT OFFICIALS SAY THERE’S VERY GOOD REASON FOR THE WAIT WHEN TRAVELERS HAVE A CHANCE TO LOOK AT THIS, PERHAPS THE FIRST THING YOU’LL NOTICE IS THE SIZE THE AIRFIELD WILL HAVE 70% MORE SPACE THAN IT DID. THIS IS THE CENTRAL PAVILION, THE SECOND FLOOR, WHERE A THIRD SKYWALK IN THE MIDDLE WILL CONNECT. THEY’RE GOING TO WALK IN HERE AND SAY, WOW, THIS IS MY AIRPORT. NO MORE CHECKING FOR THE RIGHT TERMINAL ENTRANCE HERE. YOU’LL COME IN THROUGH THE ONE AND ONLY SECURITY, EVENTUALLY FEATURING ARTISTIC WORK. REALLY A FLAVOR OF WHAT NEBRASKA IS ABOUT AND THE REGION IS ABOUT. ON YOUR WAY TO THE GATE, YOU’LL FIND MUCH MORE THAN YOU COULD IN THE PAST. TRAVELERS, WHETHER THEY’RE LOCAL OR VISITORS COMING IN, WILL HAVE A CHANCE TO EXPERIENCE OMAHA AS PART OF THE CONCESSION SPACE. OVER HALF OF THE EATERIES WILL BE LOCAL, AND ABOUT 80% WILL BE AFTER SECURITY, NOT 80% BEFORE. IT GIVES TRAVELERS THE OPPORTUNITY TO CHECK OUT THE DINING AND RETAIL OPTIONS WITH A LITTLE LESS ANXIETY. ON THE THIRD FLOOR WILL BE LOUNGE SPACE AND THIS SPACE ON THE SECOND LEVEL WILL BE TICKETING AND CHECK IN, FREEING UP THE GROUND LEVEL FOR MORE ROOM FOR BAGGAGE CLAIM. WE REALLY WANTED TO CREATE AN INTUITIVE FLOW AND PREPARED FOR FUTURE GROWTH. WE’RE JUST EXCITED ABOUT THOSE THINGS THAT WE CAN BRING TO THE COMMUNITY AND REALLY WATCH THE COMMUNITY AND THIS AIRPORT GROW TOGETHER. NOW, THE EXPANSION WILL ALSO ALLOW FOR INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS, INCLUDING THE CARIBBEAN AND CANCUN. NOW, CONSTRUCTION IS SET TO WRAP
