BANCROFT, Nebraska – The poetry of John Neihardt — and his love of rhyme and verse — will take center stage at the 45th annual Neihardt Spring Conference on Saturday.
Presentations will focus on the “connective tissue of poetry” as expressed through music, writings and art.
Attendees at the conference, entitled “And Poetry Connects it All,” will be encouraged to write and share their own poetic works at the end of the day-long event.
Former Nebraska State Poet Matt Mason will emcee the event. Speakers include Dr. Larkin Powell, director of the School of Natural Resources at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, former director of the Neihardt Historic Site Nancy Gillis and Don Holtz, a retired professor of English at Peru State College.
The event begins at 9:30 a.m. at the John Neihardt State Historic Site in Bancroft. Lunch will be available.
Admission is $25. For more information, or to purchase tickets, access the website: www.neihardtcenter.org/events.
